Santa Clara @ San Deigo 2/17/24

Tonight the WCC has a mega matchup for the battle of the 4th seed in the WCC tournament and takes control of their destiny heading into the final week of the season. Two teams that are heading in seemingly opposite directions, the Broncos of Santa Clara head south to Californias hottest team, the Toreros of San Diego.  Both teams are coming off victories, but the Toreros are on their hottest stretch of the season right now. On Thursday night the Toreros got past the Pilots of Portland with a gritty, hard fought second half that showed this team’s ability to pressure opponents on the defensive end and their 3 point shot can carry them in scoring droughts. After getting beat up in the paint and sloppy play on the offensive end in the first half. The Toreros took the bull by the horns and pressured the pilots at the perimeter and forced several turnovers in the second half to get back into and eventually take control of the game. San Diego is playing the king of ball right now t...

2/15 WCC Preview

Image
After a grueling 5 days off, the WCC returns with a vengeance to end the drought of meaningless sports since last Saturday. Tonight 8 of our beloved teams square off in a competitive race for the 2nd through 4th seeds of the WCC tournament here in late February. Teams are skidding and teams are surging, this will be a critical day for the stability of the middle of the conference heading into the home stretch of the regular season. Let’s take a look at west coast basketball tonight. Gonzaga -15.5 at LMU Gonzaga coming off its biggest win of the year and going on the road to a weakened LMU team with only 6 scholarship players. You best believe we are laying the points tonight, it’s just going to be too much for LMU to overcome and likely will end any chance of the Lions getting back in the race for a 4 seed in the WCC. Gonzaga looking to hold onto their at large status and I expect them to take care of business today. Pacific at Santa Clara -16.5 The conference doormat heads to the Sout...

How is it possible?

The Kansas City Chiefs just beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime with a Mecole Hardman touchdown. I act as unbiased as I can on here and try not to show what football team I root for, until right now. How is it possible for this amount of heartbreak to hit my 49ers? They are the most tortured fanbase in North American sports over the last 15 year by a mile. Don't believe me? I'll fucking list every time where they were on the cusp of winning the super bowl.  2012 NFC championship game against Giants; lost in overtime with TWO muffed punts. 2013 Super Bowl; had 1st and goal at the 5 yard line down 5 points to the Ravens with under 2 minutes to go....1 run and 3 straight incompletions. 2014 NFC championship at Seattle; down 6 in the redzone with 30 seconds left, throw to the endzone for the win and picked off. 2020 super bowl; up 10 in the fourth quarter with the ball, gave up  2 Chief td's and then Jimmy overthrows a potential winning TD with a minute to go. 202...

49ers vs Chiefs / Sf -1.5 One game left. Vegas. Super bowl rematch. How can anyone bet against the Chiefs? I've picked against them in all 3 playoff games and they have looked much better than the 49ers. The SF defense has not looked good this postseason and now they match up with Mahomes. We're going to get a heavy dose of CMC and the 49ers dethrone the Chiefs for at least one year. Niners get a pick six late to ice the game. The Pick: 49ers 31-16

Is the WCC going to let me down again?

America’s greatest basketball conference, the WCC, is having an ‘07 college football type season. A rare season where the classically poor have surged and shined bringing hope to those previously hopeless, and like the ‘07 football season I believe will end with two traditional giants squaring off.  The hope of a four bid WCC has yet again died at the hands of Santa Clara, and the early season blues the Zags faced have seemingly evaporated and could be put to rest with a visit to Rupp Arena this weekend. While the Gaels continue to win the west, the classic WCC championship game between St. Mary’s and Gonzaga seem all but eminent with the sputtering Dons and the surging Toros taking the middle of the WCC down with them. The sun will set on the season leaving the Broncos in the dark, and the Dons feeling the loss of a wasted offense machine. These are not my hopes but the WCC will always persist to vanquish any hope of four bids. Keeping the tradition alive another year and on...

Dana Altman and The Boys Midseason Report

Dana Altman Status Report:     After last nights loss to UCLA and a 1-1 tour through the LA schools, the Oregon Ducks continue their turbulent season. Sitting at 2nd place behind Arizona in the lame duck Pac-12, Dana Altman has really squeezed the most out of an injured, sloppy, and young group of Ducks. Through varying degrees of health the Ducks have stayed competitive in every game since the nasty loss to Syracuse in December. The loss at Boulder has an ugly score but remained close till the tired Ducks let the flood gates open in the final minutes. The home loss to Arizona showed the capabilities of this Ducks squad and keeping up with top level competition come February and march. Though Arizona gained control early, veteran play from Jermaine Couisnard kept the Ducks within striking distance till the final buzzer. A team like Arizona who is surging now and seemingly is a rolling ball of knifes and dagger 3's, showing the fight the Duck...

Championship Sunday Ball Watch Menu

Final Four. Here we go. Chiefs at Ravens / Bal-4.5 This line has moved almost 3 full points from the start of the week. Wild. This is a spot where you may have to see a doctor if you take the Ravens and the points. Mahomes magic going into a hostile Baltimore atmosphere against the best team all year in the AFC and possibly in the NFL. It may sound crazy but I think KC has to keep this game low scoring to pull it out. Lamar vs Mahomes with a super bowl trip on the line. Doesn't get much better than this. I may be an idiot for picking against the Chiefs again but I will be rolling with the Ravens in an intense game.  The Pick: Ravens 23-20 Lions at 49ers / Sf-7.5 This game could have shootout written all over it. Niners defense has been struggling especially with the lack of sacks from the D line. Jared Goff not being super mobile bodes well for that D line to get back on track. However the Lions have playmakers everywhere. If the Packers were able to move the ball at will th...
