2022-2023 Warriors Player/Coach Grades

Steph Curry: A

Steph Curry is still that guy. Wasn't on from three in the Lakers series but after how he played all season and how he ended the Kings series with the 50 ball in game 7, Steph gets a cool A from me. He also had to babysit the young guys and had to be the middle man between Draymond and everyone on the team that is sick if him. No A+ because he was out with multiple injuries this year and missed a good chunk of time. I'll never take him for granted. This team would have been in the Wemby sweepstakes if Curry wasn't on this team at all this year. He masks a lot of what is wrong on and off the court for this organization and has since he got here in 2009. In Steph we trust.

Klay Thompson: C+

Man, Klay had a rough end to the year. He was old Klay from January to March, leading the NBA in 3's made while shooting over 40%, then the wheels really came off in the final four games of the season. Game 6 Klay is going to have to be retired as his last 3 game 6's were very bad shooting games. Klay Thompson has never seen a shot he didn't like and it's why he's had such a great career. However, when you are taking bad shots and not making them while your team loses, people will be mad. Very sad ending to the year as the Lakers by game 6 were cool with Klay hucking open 3's. Klay should take more mid range jumpers.

Draymond Green: B

Other than the punch, Draymond had a very good season. He played more games than Steph and Klay and had a bunch of those vintage Draymond games. I have a love/hate relationship with Draymond. He's an incredible passer and defender, has the dawg mentality, and has been a key piece of 4 championship teams. On the other hand, he got himself suspended from a finals game, ran KD out of town, socked our PG of the future in the face on camera, and just won't shut the fuck up. Stop getting techs in games we need to win and gifting points! *insert whatever Klutchmond joke you want with Lebron here*. Overall very good year from Dray.

Andrew Wiggins: B

Maybe the hardest player on here to grade because of the time missed. Wiggins was having a very good season until he stepped away from the team for a couple months. Overall, I believe he is the 2nd best player on this team. He's not going to be a 20 ppg type of guy but his defense and mid range efficiency is why he has been so solid for this team. I wish he was able to play at the end of the year before the playoffs, but I think he picked it up pretty quickly and had some good playoff games. Tough game 6 vs LA with only 6 points, but I'll cut him some slack because of the rib injury.

Kevon Looney: A

The iron man of the team playing every game again. You gotta love Loon. He doesn't give a fuck about what his role is, he just wants to help the team win. Grabs every board and fights for everything. He's awesome. Ever since 2019 when he played through the playoffs with the rib cartilage Looney has been my guy. I don't think I saw Loon have a bad game all year. He puts his hard hat on and will give you 4-8 points, 8-18 rebounds, and play 82 games. One thing I'd like to see next year is a couple more 15 foot shots. I saw that high school mixtape and also the middy against the Lakers. Let's see maybe one a game?

Jordan Poole: D

This was not a good year at all. I felt so good about Poole being our future guard after last season. This was a disaster. He had some flashes here and there during the regular season this year but for the most part it just wasn't there. 33% from 3. Time and time again he would have crucial turnovers late in close games. Seemed to slip and fall every other possession with the ball. Then of course the playoffs, where he was nearly unplayable and just out of control with the ball, not knowing where he was on defense. I want to believe Jordan Poole is still our future point guard, but every year Steph gets older you can't just wait around hoping guys become the player you think they can be. It's win now mode.

Donte DiVincenzo: B-

Donte had a pretty good regular season on both sides of the ball, nearly shooting 40% from 3 and being one if our primary defenders on guards. Was hoping for more of that during the playoffs but just didn't happen. Had one good game in the playoffs which ended up being the last game of the season and maybe his last as a Warrior.

Jonathan Kuminga: C

Another guy I thought would take a big step forward this year. Just didn't really happen. Like Poole, he showed flashes during the regular season, and then once the playoffs started he didn't sniff the court. Kuminga sounds fed up with the situation here and might look in another direction.

Moses Moody: B+

Shoutout Moses Moody for always being ready. He was one of the young guys not getting any real run during the regular season. Bounced back and forth between the G-League and NBA a few different times during the first half of the season. Unlike some of the other young guys that were on the team last year, Moody didn't seem phased by not getting playing time or being on the team at all. When his number was called during the playoffs he delivered time and time again. He may only be 20 but the way he carried himself all year made him feel like a vet on the team. Depending on what happens this off season I would not be surprised at all to see Moody end up in starting lineup or being the the first or second guy off the bench next year.

Gary Payton II: B

Not too many games to base this grade off after the trade but I think Gary gave us what he did last year. Good defense, heart, and backdoor cuts to the basket. I wish he was able to get a little more respect from other teams from 3 but overall I thought he did exactly what his role was supposed to be once he got back here.

Jamychal Green: D+

He didn't really do too much this year. Not necessarily bad but I was hoping he'd be able to fill the Otto Porter role but it just didn't happen. Had a great game 2 vs the Lakers but other than that, a very forgettable year from JG.

Anthony Lamb: D-

Ty Jerome: C

For the time he played I thought he was ok. He seemed under control when he had the ball which I can't say about everyone on the team. For his expectations and what he gave us in the role he had, I think a C is a fair grade.

Andre Igoudala: n/a

He played in 8 games all season. If it was his last run a tip of the cap for all he's done with the Warriors, love Iggy.

Patrick Baldwin/Lester Quinones/Ryan Rollins: n/a

The Sea Dubs. In their very limited action on the NBA court this year I thought Baldwin was the most impressive. His jumper looks nice and being 6'10 shows some potential for something. Not sure what the team's expectations are for these three going forward but we'll see if they stick around next year.

Steve Kerr: C

Just a mess of a year and probably the lowest i've ever graded Kerr. I like Steve Kerr but i'll always call him out on things. I don't understand his fascination with Lamb during the regular season. He refused to play Kuminga in the playoffs. He subs players out too often right as they get hot from the field. Draymond should not have played opening night at the minimum (KD/Dray '19 vibes). To top it all off he got out-coached by Darvin fucking Ham. Maybe Ham is actually a good coach it just sucked to see a 4 team championship coach get beat by a first time coach. If you want Kerr fired right now you are an idiot. Don't follow suit of other teams sacking championship coaches on eyear after they don't win it all Joe Lacob.
