College Football Sucks (Sometimes)

Well, we officially have our College Football Playoff. Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama. Let me start off by saying that these should both be good games and set up a great national championship game. We get to see Harbaugh vs Saban at the Rose Bowl and then shortly after find out if Texas is back when they play Heisman hopeful Michael Penix and Washington. However, those should NOT be the 4 teams in the playoff. 13-0 ACC Champion Florida State is somehow on the outside looking in. My blood has been boiling about this all week and not just at the committee, but the people who agree with the committee's decision. I'm not an FSU fan at all but the fact is they won every single game they played in a power 5 conference. Not only that, they played and beat 2 SEC teams this year (LSU, Florida)! It is absolute robbery and a crime that they got left out. The "reasoning" for it is that they "aren't the same team" without QB Jordan Travis who had a season ending injury 2 weeks ago. Last I checked the #5 team in the country that is 13-0 this year is named Florida State and has the same logo so they are in fact, "the same team". The committee is saying that games don't matter and even though you won every single one, your offense didn't look that good and we would rather see a Bama team in that has already lost a game. They are ignoring the fact that FSU's defense was lights out in their last 2 games and you don't need to score 50 every game. Who cares if it was ugly wins? Bama just won on a hail mary against 6-6 Auburn! The bottom line is FSU won every game and just because they weren't winning pretty with their backup and third string QB, they get booted out of the top 4. Did they not watch Michigan beat Penn State while throwing for only 60 yards? Did they watch Washington beat 3-9 Arizona state 15-7? What about Texas squeaking out a 3 point win to 5-7 TCU in November? This whole system is based on who these people think is the best team with their eye test. That is the stupidest thing ever. Use the win/loss results on the field to determine the top 4 and when you need tiebreakers if teams have the same record or resume then fine, you can go to your precious eye test. If I hear one more person talk about Vegas odds and that's why it's better to have a 1 loss Alabama or Texas in over undefeated Florida State I will lose my mind. If we were going off Vegas odds for these game you know who would be in the playoff? Georgia! They were a 6 point favorite against Alabama! You know who else would be in? Oregon! They were a 10 point favorite against Washington! Even though the dumb eye test and Vegas odds said they would both win this weekend, they both LOST THE GAME. How do we know FSU wouldn't beat Michigan or Washington? We never will because the committee thinks they know more than the result on the field. Another thing that irritates me about these rankings is going into the weekend, FSU was #4 and Texas was #7. FSU beat #14 Louisville, Texas beat #18 Oklahoma State in their respective conference championship games. Texas jumps up 4 spots to get over FSU after FSU beat a higher ranked team in the same day?? How does that make sense committee? Please explain to me how a team YOU have at #4 goes below the team YOU have at #7 after #4 beats a team YOU ranked higher than #7 beat. The whole year they rank these teams based on their resume and then once it gets to the last rankings they essentially throw it all out the window and just put who they want to see in. What a sham. I'm going to add a special "Fuck you" to Paul Finebaum who said the committee didn't want "another TCU situation " from last year. Paul, TCU beat Michigan in the playoff game! Yes they got blown out by Georgia in the natty like everybody, but they won the football game to get there. Look at all these playoff games over the years with these premium brands like Bama, UGA, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, etc. Those games have stunk too! Last year was the only time I can recall seeing 2 great semi final games and TCU was in and won one of those games. I saw someone say football turned into figure skating this weekend; with the committee being the judges and it is so true. College football might be the only sport on the planet where you can win every game you play and not be given the chance to play for the championship. What's great about sports is that unexpected things happen all the time. Underdogs win games, upsets happen, a team can rally around someone and shock the world. A team that wins every game needs to have the opportunity to compete for the championship. If you had even just 1 loss, you had the opportunity to win that game and you didn't so you can't complain about not getting in over an undefeated team. Florida State got screwed and the committee and everyone who is on their side are ignorant scumbags. All we can do is hope that the 12 team playoff prevents situations like this from happening against but my hopes aren't very high.
